Little Magicians & Clowns


Little Magicians & ClownsAugust 5th, 2019 to August 9th, 2019


What we are learning?


Dear Parents,
We hope you are having a good week. We continue learning and having so much fun in our Summer Camp. This week they will learn to be little Magicians & Clowns. Children will enjoy exploring and discovering life in the circus. We would like to share with you a list of activities children will engage through the week by day.
Monday

·         Social-emotional development:  identify unacceptable behaviors such as hitting, biting, etc. and work with children to handle those emotions.

·         Language development: observe images of the circus and discuss what we have learned.

·         Cognitive development: play memory with objects related to the circus theme. 

·         Fine motor development: grasp little worms using cloth hooks.

·         Gross motor development: play with ula ula and walk over color lines to transport objects.

Tuesday

·         Social-emotional development: identity unacceptable behaviors such as hitting, biting, etc. and work with children to handle those emotions.

·         Language development: discover a clown inside our surprise box.

·         Cognitive development: describe objects that are found in a circus.

·         Fine motor development: create a clown puppet using paper bags and a paper plate.

·         Gross motor development: transport balls inside a cone. 

Wednesday & Thursday

·         Social-emotional development:  play painted faces.

·         Language development: create circus stories.

·         Cognitive development: pretend to be magicians.

·         Fine motor development: remove lids from a bucket filled with water using tweezers.

·         Gross motor development: follow a circuit on the floor with 1 or 2 feet.

Friday

·         Enjoy our Summer Camp Party.

·         Have your child wear swimsuit, swim diapers and water shoes for Splash Day.

·         Make sure to send a towel and a tote bag for wet items. Label and pack all these items in the tote bag.

·         Remember your child to wash his/her hands when entering the classroom and before leaving school. This is the best way to prevent illnesses.

·         Make sure to bring your child on time so he/she can participate in circle time. This activity starts at 8:45am and will stimulate and strengthen skills in all areas.

·         Read your child’s journal, blogs, and Friday Newsletter. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us in case you have any comment or any question about your child’s development or any notes/comments made in your child’s journal.

·         Avoid bringing your child with items that can cause distraction such as toys, necklaces, bracelets, watches, etc. This is needed to help him/her concentrate on the scheduled activities at school.

·         Label all your child’s clothing and items and make sure that your child has an extra set of clothing that is appropriate to weather in his/her cubby.

·         Make sure to remove clothing from the cubby and just leave one set of clothing and a blanket for nap time.

·         Make sure to take the blanket home on Fridays for laundry and bring it back on Monday.

·         Make sure to have enough pull-ups or diapers in the cubby for the day, if your child has not been potty-trained yet.

·         Label all bottles and food that you bring to preschool for your child with your child’s name and the date it was prepared and drop it in the kitchen. Please keep in mind we are a nut-free environment.

·         Take home the homework blue folder in your child’s cubby and take one or 2 paper sheets from the container that are next to the entrance of the classroom. Homework should be returned by Tuesday and do not forget to bring the homework folder back on Monday.

·         Do not bring your child to school if the child has a fever of over 101F or any contagious conditions.

·         Apply sunscreen to your child every morning.

·         Make sure to keep in your child’s cubby a pair of glasses and a summer hat.

·         Sunscreen and mosquito repellant are important to protect your child because he/she is very susceptible to sunburn/mosquito bites. Yet applying sunscreen and mosquito repellent to your child requires planning. If sunscreen and mosquito repellent must be applied to your child, make sure to fill out an administration or authorization form specifying when sunscreen and mosquito repellant should be applied and be sure to supply the sunscreen and mosquito repellant, label the bottles with your child's name and place them in a tote bag.

What we are learning?

We hope you are having a good week. We continue learning and having so much fun at our Summer Camp. This week they will learn to be little Creators & Builders. They will continue using their creativity through flashcards and games.  We would like to share with you a list of activities children will engage through the week by day.
Monday

·         Social-emotional development: give a bath to animal toys. 

·         Language development: find letters hidden in our sandbox and form words with the letters we discover.

·         Cognitive development: create objects with recycled boxes.  

·         Fine motor development: paint boxes of different sizes.  

·         Gross motor development: push mats.  

Tuesday

·         Social-emotional development: enjoy a puppet play “Para que sirven mis pies”. This play will help us approach the subject of gentle discipline regarding using feet to kick friends.

·         Language development: play brainbox.  

·         Cognitive development: weigh different objects and group them accordingly.   

·         Fine motor development: create animals using recycled boxes.   

·         Gross motor development: pick up objects that are thrown on the floor.

Wednesday

·         Social-emotional development: enjoy a puppet play and stories. 

·         Language development: participate in a drama play with verbs. 

·         Cognitive development: create sensory bottles using different objects.  

·         Fine motor development: create faces using leaves, tree branches, etc.

·         Gross motor development: participate in Zoo Theme Yoga.

Thursday

·         Social-emotional development: enjoy stories. 

·         Language development: create stories based on selected images.

·         Cognitive development: create a mosaic using little stones.    

·         Fine motor development: paint using colorful ice cubes. 

·         Gross motor development: jump inside geometric shapes.    

Friday

·         Social-emotional development: enjoy stories. 

·         Language development: describe a selected image: color, shape, etc. 

·         Cognitive development: follow patterns by shape.   

·         Fine motor development: place straws in cones with holes.   

·         Gross motor development: place objects inside blankets and drag them through the floor.

Materials for Weekly Activities


·         Bring your child’s favorite animal toy for Monday, July 22nd, 2019. It should be a plastic toy that can go in the water.

·         Bring an empty shoebox for Tuesday, July 23rd, 2019.

·         Donation of plastic bottles and plastic lids are welcome. If you have at home, please bring them on Monday.

What we are learning? 


Dear Parents,
We hope you are having a good week. We are excited that children are learning and having so much fun in our Summer Camp. This week they will learn to be little nature lovers. They will explore nature and learn also about animals and plants. Children will also work on a herbarium for our science center. 
On Wednesday, July 3rd, 2019 they will enjoy our Independence Parade to celebrate Independence Day. It will as always a week full of learning and fun activities kids cherish!

What we are learning? 

Dear Parents,

We hope you are having a beautiful week. Summer has started and we are so happy to welcome you all to our Summer Camp 2018. Children will participate in many fun events and they will enjoy Splash days, doing crafts and so much more. This week the children will learn everything about being little chefs and they will help us to prepare delicious recipes such as pizza, lemonades, sandwiches, etc.

We have scheduled learning activities related to this theme to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills so children can continue learning through experiences.

What we are learning?
Dear Parents,

This is our last week of summer camp and we want to make sure children have fun while learning.  This week children will enjoy being little magicians and clowns. Children will also learn everything about the circus, the clowns and the animals.  

Children will participate in crazy hair day activity and they will also experience having their faces painted and to end Summer Camp season we will have a wonderful party where children will share memories with classmates while having an amazing time. All these learning activities related to this theme will serve to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills.
